Manolis Kellis | Breaking the code of human disease

23 March, 2021 News

Could we eventually overcome Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, heart disease, obesity, cancer, and the many more diseases that plague our species? Before giving any answer, we should realize that we need to understand the mechanisms underlying these human diseases.

Professor Manolis Kellis and his research team do exactly that. More specifically, the world-recognized scientist in the field of precision medicine, disease genomics, and computational biology studies how genetic differences between individuals lead to disease differences at the cellular and molecular level.

In his breakthrough talk at the Athens Science Festival platform entitled “Breaking the code of human disease”, the leading Greek scientist will present the opportunities to design new diagnostic methods for the treatment of incurable, until today, diseases.

The discussion will be moderated by Zoe Cournia.

Professor Manolis Kellis is a world-recognized leader in the field of precision medicine, disease genomics, digital health, machine learning, and computational biology. He has made important discoveries for Alzheimer’s Disease, Obesity, Schizophrenia, Cardiac Disorders, Cancer, and Immune Disorders, and has broad implications for the study of all human diseases. He has authored over 200 journal publications, that are cited more than 100,000 times.
